Chris Henderson

April 19, 1951 — July 25, 2010

As a chuckle, Id check the Blade every morning to see if I was in the obits. Guess what, here I am! Let me tell you a little about my life I was born and raised on the north side of town, with the Lebanese community, in Toledo Ohio. I attended St. Francis de Sales grade school, Woodward and DeVilbiss High Schools, and The University of Toledo. My degrees and accomplishments at UT include: Associate, Bachelor, Master of Education, Education Specialist, American Psychotherapy Association Board Certified Professional Counselor, State of Ohio Professional Counselor, The Catherine S. Eberly Center for Women, Outstanding Woman of the Year, University of Toledo Womens Commission, Outstanding Professional Woman, US Army Recruiting Company, and Toledo Partners in Education. For the past 24 years I proudly worked at The University of Toledo as an Associate Director for the Office of Undergraduate Admission. My accomplishments at UT included: serving the adult learner student in returning to school. In friendship and collaboration with Cathi Kwapich developed special programs, services, and scholarships for those students. In collaboration and friendship with Dick Eastop, developed a Military Service Center, and, with his leadership, commitment, and support, and friendship of Kevin Kucera, I managed and supervised staff and students in serving our communities. In Toledo, we are so lucky to have a wonderful university with talented, committed staff. Please continue to support! My special interests include: family picnics, pool parties, visiting the beach, gardening, cooking eating of course, decorating, resale shopping, needlepoint, and I am embarrassed to say, watching reality TV. Unfortunately, I leave my cherished family: Husband and Soul mate John B. Henderson, my loving sons, Jon Anthony, and Nicholas Christopher, mother, Helen Somers. Best friends forever: Sisters, Patty Bill Reed, Toledo, Dr. Toni Somers, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Nephews, David Jennifer Reed, special kids, Addie, and Ben Matthew Meghan Reed, special kids Erin and Anna. My special niece, Carrie Reed and fianc Justin Donaldson; Sister-in-law, Sarah Summerfelt, Jackson, Michigan My loving and previously abandoned pooches, Skittles and Lucy. Special thanks to Jane Pierson, RN, and Connie Schultz, LSW, Hospice of Northwest Ohio. My family, friends, and colleagues at The University of ToledoI love you guys! The family will receive guests after 10 AM Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd. Toledo, Ohio where a memorial mass will follow at 11 AM. I would be grateful if you would continue my work of serving adult learners by contributing to the Chris A. Henderson Scholarship Fund #30-401-858 through The University of Toledo Foundation, M.S. 319 Driscoll Alumni Center, 2801 W. Bancroft St. Toledo, Ohio, 43606. Arrangements made through Walker Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
