Chester Martin Sniadecki, 89, of Maumee, passed away with family at his side Monday, November 28, 2022. He was born March 11, 1933, in Toledo to Chester J. Sniadecki and Frances S. (Modrowski).
He attended Macomber Vocation High School. From 1953 to 1955, he served in the US Army. He was married to Delphine D. Lesczynski on August 18, 1956. In 1960 he was appointed to the Maumee Fire Department rising through the ranks to 1st Assistant Chief retiring in 2010 after 50 years of service. He worked in auto body repair for many years until his expertise of car and experience in fire and rescue came together and he became a Claims Adjuster for Allstate, retiring in 1995.
Chet had two wonderful children who survive, Loriane A. (David) Beck and Martin C. (Dawn) Sniadecki, with Del who passed away in 1980. On April 4, 1981, he married Noreen C. Pacitti. They had 41 amazing years together.
He was a proud Korean War Army veteran, Firefighter, and proudest of all Dziad to his three grandsons. His memberships included the Damper Campers, Toledo Claims Association, Indian Hills Boat (Commodore, 1986), and Lucas County Fire Chiefs.
He enjoyed cars, racing, boating, camping, and celebrating his Polish heritage with friends and family especially their three grandsons Joseph, Joshua, and James. He loved to tease, joke, and BS. He never met a stranger. He was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR, Buckeye football, and watching his grandsons ride four wheelers. In 1994 he helped his son establish Martin Electric.
Chet is preceded in death by his wife Delphine, sister Ann Kitzmiller, and brother Gerald Sniadecki. In addition to his wife, daughter, son, and grandsons, he is survived by his sister Judy Vlasak of Florida.
Chet and his family wish to thanks Blind and Low Vision Rehabilitation at VA Battle Creek Health Care, VA Clinic Toledo, and the staff, nurses, respiratory therapists, & doctors of University of Toledo Medical Center Emergency Department and Cardiovascular Unit.
Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 PM where there will be a Last Alarm reading at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway St., Maumee. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 1595 W. River Rd., Maumee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maumee Fire Department or St. Joseph’s Church.
