Chester John Cukierski, 91, of Waterville, Ohio passed away on August 1, 2025 at Otterbein of Monclova. He was born on November 9, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Julia (Glogowski) Cukierski.
Chester was a 1952 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He later obtained his bachelors degree in 1956 and then a masters degree in 1959 from the University of Toledo. He taught Government and English at Mason Consolidated Schools for 35 years where he also taught drivers education, retiring in 1991. He later drove the courtesy van for St. Luke’s Hospital for 15 years. He spent many years coaching baseball, basketball and then softball, baseball at St. Clements. Chester personally played softball for 50 years and umpired for 5 years. His accomplishments included being inducted into the Erie Mason Hall of Fame and earning Teacher of the year.
Chester never met a stranger and loved talking to people, especially if they were wearing a sports jersey. He was an avid Ohio State fan.
Chester is survived by his children, Cindy (Dan) Furko, Julie (Ron) Boney and Eric Cukierski; his wife of 38 years Norma Cukierski; grandchildren, Jayson Foreman, Jordan (Santana) Villareal, Olivia Boney, Emma (Ben) Keilholz, Morgan Cukierski, Connor and Logan Cukierski; two great grandchildren, Brody and Maddie Foreman; stepchildren, Cal (Sandy) Norden, Melissa (Kevin) Baker, Chad Norden; step grandchildren, Tenille (Joel) Bixler, Trevor Krischan, Katelyn Schultz, Kenzie (Zack) Rohrs, Madison (Dereck) Morris, Morgan Norden and 5 step grandchildren; special nephew, Terrence Cukierski “schfaag” as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Chester was also preceded in death by his siblings, Alexander Cukierski, Julie Godlewski, Anthony Cukierski, Lucy Klimkos, Donald Cukierski, Angela Ruth, Stella Blachowski and Helen Cukierski. Special stepson; Mark Norden.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway St. Maumee, Ohio where a funeral mass will be held following visitation at 10:30 am. Burial will be held at St, Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mason Consolidated Schools.
