Cheryl R. Kruczkowski age 63 of Toledo passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in The Toledo Hospital. She was born March 14, 1953 in Toledo to Taft and Opal Abood, local shop owners in West Toledo. Cheryl is leaving this world with giant shoes to fill, she was a compassionate woman who gave of herself to anyone that needed her. She loved animals, and was an accomplished artist that shared her talents as an educator with Toledo Public Schools. She also gave countless hours to the Start HS Student Body Government, arranging homecoming and other activities along with being a proud supporter of Starts wrestling team. This little lady has touched many lives with her big heart. Kind and tough she was like a second mother to many. This world has lost an extraordinary person, the heavens have truly gained an angel. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Kruczkowski, the two had three children April, Justin, and Neil. She later reconnected and was engaged to her high school sweetheart Robert Gelia. She is also survived by sister Debi Westmeyer; nieces and nephews Hayley Westmeyer, Blake Westmeyer and Don Patterson; and her second family, Nicole Gelia Champanis, Amanda Gelia Hood, Jim Orlando and Tiffany Gelia. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Taft Abood. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Monday from 2-8 PM with Trisagion Services at 7 PM. Cheryl, a handmaiden of God will lie in state on Tuesday in St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church 4940 Harroun Rd. Sylvania, Ohio after 10 AM where funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Elias Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
