Cheryl Kachenmeister

Cheryl (Sfaelos) Kachenmeister of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on June 17, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was 68 years old.

Cheryl was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 22, 1953, the only daughter of Andrew “Sandy” and Betty (Hansen) Sfaelos. She graduated from Start High School, Class of 1971, and valued the many friends that she kept in touch with. Cheryl worked with her family for many years at Andre’s Lounge and most recently for her son-in-law at Shawn’s Irish Tavern.

Cheryl was a lover of people and animals. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she considered herself so fortunate to live so close to them. She always said if they needed her, “Nana” could be there in 75 seconds! Cheryl was very happy with her puppy, Florence, a gift from her grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law.

Cheryl was also a lover of food and a great cook. She never met a grocery store she didn’t like and tried her best to keep all in business. Her soups were her specialty and always a hit amongst her family and friends.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Michael “Kak” Kachenmeister; her daughter, Desirae Shroyer (Michael); and her grandchildren, Caitlin, Samantha, and William Shroyer. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Lori Paterwich; step-son, Mark Kachenmeister; only brother, Doug Sfaelos; and best friend since childhood and partner in crime, Anna Nelms.

Cheryl was preceded by her parents and Desirae’s father, Frank Duncan.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. A small celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Chapel of Peace in Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio.
