Charlotte Elizabeth Stoiber, 93, died peacefully in her sleep August 1, 2014. Charlotte was born January 9, 1921, to Katharina and Frank Schwab in Dingolfing, Germany. She was a graduate of Woodward High School where she played 1st violin. Charlotte worked as a legal secretary until marrying Edward Stoiber and raising her family. Later, she retired as a school secretary from Toledo Public Schools. Charlotte and Ed were avid travelers, visiting Europe and China as well as spending their winter months in Hawaii. Charlotte was a ravenous reader and a competitive player of bridge, pinochle, and Scrabble. She completed the Blade crossword puzzle daily. Charlottes first love was family, and a favorite memory was of yearly family vacations to Houghton Lake, Michigan. She hosted summer holidays at her Lake Erie cottage for extended family and prepared monthly dinners at her home for her grandchildren. Her love of baking had been shown by baking theme cakes for their birthdays. She also knitted and crocheted afghans for all thirteen of them. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son, James; and sister, Hilda. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Myrna), J. David (Laurie), and Rob (Jackie) Stoiber; daughter, Kathy (Bob) Mockensturm; grandchildren, Brian and Scott (Katie) Mockensturm; Eddie (Ann Marie), Jodi, Eric, Anthony, Anna, Elizabeth, Alex, Jenny, Nathan, and Vanessa Stoiber; and Emily (Matt) Strebel; and great-grandchildren, Robbie Stoiber, and Leo and Oliver Mockensturm. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 620 N.
