Charles Charlie A. Genzman, 54, of Oak Harbor died early Tuesday, April 08, 2014, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born on June 1, 1959, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Allen E. and Sandra L. St.Clair Genzman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Charlie was a 1977 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. He began working as the Superintendent of the Light & Water Department for the Village of Oak Harbor on September 1, 1977, and then worked as a lineman for the Village of Genoa in August of 1998 until his retirement in December of 2009. Charlie provided 32 years of dedicated service to residents of both communities he served while receiving many awards for safety, compliance and system improvements. He also received several varsity letters for his dedication to managing athletic teams for coaches Dave Christie, Bill Hubans, Dick Misler and Tom Greer. He had a love for electricity and photography and enjoyed snowmobiling and boating. Charlie is survived by his parents, Allen and Sandra Genzman of Oak Harbor, siblings, Michael Mariana Genzman of Arizona, Cynthia Genzman of Arizona, and Randy Monica Genzman of Oak Harbor, 10 nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Ken Reinhart. Per Charlies wishes, there will be no services; and cremation will take place in the direct care of the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions for Charlie may be given to Oak Harbor Public Library, St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mid-County EMT Association or the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters. Charlies family would like to thank all of the staff at Magruder Hospital and Riverview Health Care Campus for their dedication and caring.
