Charley T. Irick, 93, of Port Clinton, OH passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Ohio Veteran’s Home, Sandusky, OH, where he had been a resident for the past 8 years. He was born on September 1, 1929 in Port Clinton, to the late Frederick H. and Ellen (Hendrix) Irick. On May 7, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA he married Arlene K. Lonsdale, and she survives. Charley served in the U.S. Navy from August 1948 to April 1953 aboard the USS Cabot as an electrician. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and the Port Clinton Police Department.
In addition to his loving wife of 70 years, Arlene, he is survived by his three children, daughters, Pat Hovis and Sandi Hofacker, both of Port Clinton, and son, David (Cassy) Irick of New Bremen, OH, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Charles Irick, and brothers, Fred Irick and Edgar Irick.
Visitation for Charley will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Funeral services will be Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions in memory of Charley may be given to the Ohio Veteran’s Home, Sandusky, OH. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
