Charles G. Yeager passed away on September 12, 2015 at Swan Care Retirement Village after a serious fall. Chuck was born in Toledo to Albert and Norma (Eiseman) Yeager. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School and the University of Toledo. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Chuck married Geraldine L. Chase in June of 1942 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where he had been a member since 1927. Chucks wife, Geri, or my Ger as he called her, was the love of his life. They were both only children and had a very special bond, celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary this year. Youre the best thing that ever happened to me was often expressed to each other. Theirs was truly a love story. Chuck was vice-president and corporate treasurer of Champion Spark Plug when he retired in 1983. He had been with the company since1952. He was a Mason in the Northern Light Lodge and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Zenobia Shrine Temple Guard and Royal Order of Jesters. Chuck served on the board of many organizations including the former Toledo Halfway House, Toledo Botanical Gardens, Stranahan Foundation, Trustee Emeritus, Stranahan Theater Trust, Emeritus, University Foundation. He was a lifetime member of Old Newsboys, Highland Meadows Golf Club, Toledo Club, Toledo Post American Legion #335, and a lifetime member of the University of Toledo Alumni Association. When Chuck and his wife retired, they spent 26 years in Florida. He began working for the Stranahan Foundation at that time. They were very active members of Saint Davids Episcopal Church in Englewood, Florida and Myakka Pines Golf Club. After returning from Florida, they moved to Swan Creek where they continued to be active with outings, committees, and social events. Along with his wife, Geri, Chuck is survived by his sons, Bruce (Christine) and Kenneth (Patricia) as well as six grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Wicker of Portland, OR, Scott (Lisa) Yeager of San Francisco, CA, Kim (Nick) Smith of Portland, OR, Kelly (Jeff) Morrow of Toledo, Kerry (Nick) Baker of Toledo, and Kacey Yeager of Denver, CO. He is survived by seven great-grandchildren that called him GGpa. He will be dearly missed. Friends may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 2-8:00pm. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 2770 W. Central Ave. Toledo, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Church, the Cherry Street Mission, 105 17th St. Toledo, OH 43604 or the charity of the donors choice.
