Charles A Yant

Charles A. Yant age 90 of Toledo passed away Saturday in St. Lukes Hospital. He was born November 15, 1921 in Chicago to Lynne and Lempi Yant. An Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, he was a co-pilot in a B24 bomber that was shot down over Germany and was wounded and a prisoner of war for almost a year, receiving a Purple Heart when the war ended. After the service Charles was an FAA Controller at Toledo Express Airport for many years. After retirement he and his wife became travel agents. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Maumee as well as a member of the Maumee Elks, Eagles and American Legion Post #320. Preceded in death by his wife Betty and son Jim Yant, he is survived by his daughter Kathy Jackson; and brother Ken Yant. Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee on Tuesday from 3 to 8 PM where Maumee Elks will conduct services at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Northwest Ohio Honor Flight.
