Charles J. Vasques

Charles “Buddy” James Vasques of Toledo, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at UT Medical Center where he had been for nine days. He was born on June 13, 1962, to Dr. Paul and Loretta (Meng) Vasques in Sandusky, Ohio. Charles was diagnosed with autism as a child when only one in 10,000 children received the diagnosis compared to today with one in 68 children who are diagnosed with autism. He resided in a supported living home in Toledo under the care of Sunshine Communities. Charles loved the outdoors and walks at Toledo Botanical Gardens and the MetroParks. He will be missed by friends and family. People learned about autism through knowing Charles. Charles leaves behind four sisters: Julie (John) Horns of Catawba Island and Bonita Springs, Florida; Kristen Vasques of Toledo, Lisa (John) Balconi of Sandusky and Naples, Florida and Amy Higgins of Mesa, Arizona. Nieces and nephews: Jaime Mesenburg, Jesse Mesenburg, Seth Otto, Robert Klose, Raymond Klose, Bruce Higgins, Summer Eagar, and Heather Higgins. Preceding him in death were his parents. The service will be on Thursday, April 9 at 12 noon in the Spiritual Life Center at Sunshine Communities, 7223 Maumee Western Rd., Maumee, Ohio. Donations can be made in memory of Charles to the Toledo Community Foundation to support the MetroParks. Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
