Charles Skala

June 18, 1940 — May 20, 2015

Captain Chuck Skala Charles Chuck Skala, Jr., age 74, passed away on May 20, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home in Perrysburg.  Chuck was born on June 18, 1940 in Racine, WI to the late Charles and Elizabeth Skala.  He was a graduate of William Horlick High School in Racine.  Chuck was a lifelong hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed the many hunting and fishing trips he took throughout the years with his  friends and family.   He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.  He was also a diehard Green Bay Packers and Ohio State fan.  Chuck attended all of his childrens and grandchildrens games and other events.  He was always their biggest supporter and will be remembered as an amazing father and grandfather. Chuck worked in the tool and die industry as a tool and die maker and also in sales.  In 1983 he started a charter boat service running his fleet of two boats, Last Dime Charters I and Last Dime Charters II on Lake Erie.  He ran charters for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2010. Chuck was preceded in death by his son, John Skala; daughter, Michelle Skala; and fiancé, Rosemary Dembowski.  He is survived by his children, Judy (Mike) Knuckles of Cincinnati, Dawn (Mike) Bonfiglio of Sylvania Township, Mark (Sandy) Skala of Rossford, and Matt (Jennifer) Skala of Toledo; grandchildren, Jacklyn, Garrett, Abby, Ashley, Mark, Megan, Lyndsey, Dominic, Sydney, Audrey, Danielle, Madison, and Morgan; sisters, Barbara (Warner) Williams and Monica (Bill) Grise; brother, Thomas Skala; and his friend and ex-wife, Sharon Skala Salsberry.  He greatly appreciated the friendship of the Kelso and Szczublewski families. Chucks family would like to express their gratitude to Heartland Hospice, especially Lorie and Angie. Visitation will be Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) from noon until the time of service at 6:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 28555 Starbright Blvd., Suite E, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Condolences may be shared online at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
