PROTSIK Charles W. Charles W. Protsik, age 94, of Toledo, Ohio died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Franciscan Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on January 28, 1919 to Joseph and Mary Machac Protsik in Rossford, Ohio. Charles worked for Shippers Dispatch which became Preston Trucking in Toledo, Ohio. He was a WWII disabled veteran and was proud to have gone on the October 9, 2013 Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Charles was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maumee Eagles and the American Legion. He played semi-professional football in his earlier years and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Charles worked on super modified race cars and sprint cars from the 1940s until the 1970s He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. He is survived by his daughter, Carole Simms; son, Thomas Judy; grandchildren, Cheri Cindy; Pam Kirk; Keith Cindy; Mark; Scott Pai and Sean; great-grandchildren, Nathan; Grace; Keegan; Kirsten and Jacob. Also surviving is his sister, Emily Andy Badik. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Peggy brothers, Joseph and Steven; sister, Josephine and his parents, Mary and Joseph. Friends may gather at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service which will be celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio.
