Charles E. Pohlman, Sr., 89, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Kingston of Perrysburg surrounded by his three children. Charles was born August 31, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Franklin and Ruth (Meissner) Pohlman. Charles graduated high school from Libbey in 1946 and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, went into the reserve from 1955-1959 was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Patricia Shawley on June 19, 1954 and they shared 61 years together. Charles worked as a lithographer for Graphic Art Corporation from 1956-1983 and then went to work at Lesher Printer in Fremont, Ohio and retired from there in 1997. Charles was a man of faith. He was a member at the First United Church of Christ on Cherry Street, became active in Faith Community Church on Byrne Road then joined Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg. Charles coached little league baseball for the Burroughs School district and coached football for Burroughs school from 1967-1980. He assisted at Perrysburg High School football camps and the NWO Regional All Star football game. Charles was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan and loved nature; especially hunting and fishing. He loved telling stories and always willing to lend a hand. He is survived by his children; Charles E. (Debra) Pohlman, Jr., Ray (Kim) Pohlman and Gwyn (Jay) Hart; grandchildren; Kim (Mitch), Andy (Jill), Kara (Chad), Kelly (Heather), Kate (Jeremy), Jeff (Josh), Cori (Mike), Brett (Mary), Kristi (Jake), Shaun (Amanda) and Tony (Whitney), many great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, brothers, Frank, Jack, Bill, his adopted brother, Jerry and his sister, Lois. Friends and family will be received Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 601 E. Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m., masks required. The burial will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo. Memorial contributions in Charles’s name may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Grace United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133).
