Charles “Bud” Mossing, 77, of Swanton, Ohio, died peacefully at home Wednesday evening March 4, 2015 surrounded by his loving children. Bud Mossing, son of Leslie and Isabelle (Koelsch) Mossing, was born February 10, 1938, in Wauseon, Ohio and raised in Assumption, Ohio. He married the love of his life, Ann Smithmyer, on Thanksgiving Day 1957. Their love grew for more than 50 years of marriage and continues to multiply through their thirteen children. Bud enjoyed a wonderful life. He was an IBEW local #8 electrician for over 40 years. He was a life-long and committed member of Holy Trinity Parish and active in many ministries including managing the St. Vincent de Paul monthly food distribution. In 2011 Bud earned the Centurion Award from the Diocese of Toledo, given for “Outstanding Service”. He was a proud member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 306 and enjoyed participating in their functions, especially playing cards. He was also a strong advocate for Catholic education. Bud lived for others especially his children. He was most proud of the success that each of them has achieved in their personal and professional lives. He said a lot with few words. His grandchildren especially appreciated his quick wit and his candy jar. Bud was preceded in death by his wife Ann; mother, father, and brothers, Kenny, Ronny, Tom, and Danny; and daughter-in-law, Sue Mossing. He is survived by his children, Michael, Stephen (Karen), James (Amy), Susan Szaroleta (William), Patricia McMullen, John (Kimberly), Donald (Laura), William (Lynn), Jane Francis (David), Carol Reeling (Joel), Nicholas (Chantel), Timothy (Gilliane), and Elizabeth Moore (Garth); brothers, Larry and Dick (Pam) Mossing; 36 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 W Sylvania Avenue Toledo, OH with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 2649 US Highway 20, Swanton, OH on Monday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
