Charles J. Miller, age 76, of Fremont and Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2009, with family by his side, as he made his journey with the Lord.. Chuck was born on October 10, 1932, the son of Myron J. and Helen Stull Miller. On October 11, 1986 in Williamsburg, VA, he married Ann Greear Miller and she survives. Chuck graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1950. He attended both the University of Arizona and Ohio State University. Chuck was a member of the Fremont YMCA, devoting many volunteer hours; an honorary life member of the Fremont Elks, the Brainard Masonic Lodge and the Catawba Island Club. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Upon the death of his grandfather, Charles Joseph Miller I, in 1953, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Fremont Foundry Company. He served in several management capacities as well as serving on the board until the foundry was sold in the mid 1960s. At that time C.J. was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Fremont Flask Company and served as CEO until the mid 1980s. In the mid 1960s Chuck started Miller Castings, representing foundries in Ohio and surrounding states until 2003, when failing health prevented him from participating in daily operations. Chuck was well respected in his business. Chuck was a member of the Fremont Ross swim team and in1950, he won the State Championship in the backstroke. He was an avid duck hunter, being a past member and President of the DeMars Point Hunting & Fishing Club. Chuck enjoyed fishing, golf, skeet and trap. Playing cards, especially cribbage, was another one of Chucks favorite pastimes. He loved cheering for the University of Michigan.Go Blue. Chuck and Ann enjoyed their travels together. Survivors include loving wife: Ann Miller of Port Clinton, OH; Daughters: Amy James Chapman, Powell, OH and Jennifer John Mlynski, West Port, CT; Step-sons: Chad Lisa Stuckey, LaGrange, KY and Douglas Nanette Stuckey, Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren: Brynne Chapman, Lauren and Max Mlynski, Sarah Stuckey, Grant and Logan Stuckey; Nephews: Brad Brenda Bischoff, Douglas Bischoff, and Peter Langendorff; Nieces: Jill Folan, Heidi Burgin and Lynn Varney. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Marcia Bischoff. A Memorial service to honor Chucks life will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader and Pastor David Gowan at 11:00AM, Saturday, the 5th of September, 2009 in Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH, Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH or YMCA, Fremont, OH.
