Charles Marcis

December 26, 1952 — January 25, 2014

Charles J. Marcis, Jr. 61, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, January 25th in his home after a long battle with cancer. Chuck was a proud graduate of Rossford High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Toledo area. Chuck, a consummate salesman, worked in explosion-proof electrical sales for the past 20 years. He was most recently employed as the National Accounts Manager for Oil and Gas for the Appleton Group of Emerson Industrial Automation for the past 5 years. In true Chuck fashion he continued to work right up until the very end, visiting customers just days before he died. Even more than work, his passion was his family. He loved to host parties with as many of the kids and grandkids and other family members that were available. Parties always included loud talking, much laughing and the occasional adult beverage (and if the Marines were present, improvised weapons). Chuck was involved in his children’s activities including coaching soccer for his girls’ teams and coaching for Perrysburg Big Gold football and supporting all of his children’s activities. He was also an honorary member of the BGSU rugby team. He was an enthusiastic grandfather and enjoyed any opportunity to be “crazy grandpa” or “bossy Chuck” with them. His family and friends will miss his generosity and devotion to his loved ones, friends and colleagues and his unique sense of humor. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (Klein Marshall) Marcis, daughters Nichole (Justin Lynch) Kaminski, Charlene (Trent) Nicol, Marlena (Jeremy) Woodtke, and his step-sons Adam Marshall, Aaron (Renee') Marshall, Andrew (Sarah) Marshall and Benjamin (Alexis) Marshall and grandchildren Kolin and Reese Kaminski, Megan and Ava Nicol, Jack and Sam Woodtke, and Mikayla, Connor and Dylan Marshall. Chuck's mother, Joan (Berger) Marcis and brother, Richard Marcis, also survive him. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles J. Marcis, Sr., and his faithful dog, Lars (the “big guy”). Visitation will be held at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E South Boundary St. Perrysburg, OH on Wednesday, January 29th from 3:30-7:30 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, January 30th at 11 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E Indiana Ave. Perrysburg. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind at www.guidedog.org.
