Charles A. “J.R.” Maiden, 90, of Sylvania, passed away suddenly at Toledo Hospital on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Charles was born in Pearl, Kentucky on August 4, 1927 to Andy and Pearl (Cobb) Maiden. He was a Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War and was married to his beloved wife, Florence, for many years until her death. Charles was a Laborer for Jeep for over 30 years. He was a member of Athens Missionary Baptist Church in Walbridge, had a passion for corvettes and enjoyed traveling and gun shows. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Lois Schneider, many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Marge Maiden. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; parents, Andy and Pearl Maiden; siblings, Darlene (Henry) Partin, Joy (A.C.) Frasure, Nadine (Palmer) Killion, Roy Maiden and Ruby (Larry) Standard; brother-in-law, Richard Schneider; and sister-in-law, Lucille Maiden. Friends will be received on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St., Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121). Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David McGregor, officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury. Memorials may be made to Athens Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
