Charles Chuck A. Lenke, 85, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died early Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born June 25, 1927, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Fred and Lula Dixon Lenke. On April 3, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Township, he married Beatrice Mae Gulau, who preceded him in death December 31, 2003. Chuck was honorably discharged from the Army having served during WW II. In 1992 Chuck retired from U.S. Gypsum in maintenance and prior to that, had farmed and was a dispatcher for three trucking companies. Chuck was a very active individual. He loved music and loved to sing and instilled a love of music in each of his children. Chuck would often lead the sing-a-longs at Riverview Nursing Home. He was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where he was past president of Church Council and sang in the choir and helped baked pies for the church. He always helped with the churchs Pork Chop BBQ and was their top salesman for years. Chuck was an avid horseman. He served as president of the Tri-State Rodeo Association, where he was awarded an honorary lifetime member and served as their first steward. Chuck was very active in the Ottawa County Farm Bureau and Farm Council and helped to start the first 4-H Horse Club in Ottawa County with nine members. In recent years Chuck was involved with the Harborlites Oak Harbor Senior Center. He is survived by his children: Carol Carroll Mylander, Richard Sandra Lenke and James Tina Lenke, all of Oak Harbor, Connie Tony Heileman of Santa Fe, TX, Sandra K. Mark Rahm of Elmore, Bill JoAnne Kwiatkowski Lenke of Fremont and Beth Jeff Meyer of Graytown; 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brother, Donald Sue Lenke of Caledonia, OH and sister, Alice Edwards of North Baltimore, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, two young siblings, two brothers and three sisters, and special friend, Liz Zimmerman. Visitation for Chuck will be 2-8 p.m., Friday June 21, 2013, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church., Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Roose Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Pauls Lutheran Church Building & Improvement Fund, 9789 W. Oak Harbor S.E. Rd., Oak Harbor, OH 43449, or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870. Chucks family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at unit 6 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, as well as the nurses from Stein Hospice.
