Charles Frederick Koch, 91, passed away at The Toledo Hospital on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born June 8, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to Edna (Bartelt) Koch and Charles T. Koch. He graduated from Libbey High School and attended the University of Toledo. He married Margaret Dunn in August, 1947. They had two children, Michael and Karen. Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army on January 3, 1943. He served in the South Pacific Islands with the 233rd Search Light Battalion. He worked at the Toledo Post Office as a claims clerk for 38 years where he also held the position of Treasurer of APWU retiring in 1986. Following his retirement he became Treasurer/Manager of the Toledo Postal Credit Union. Retiring from there in 1994. Charles is survived by his children, Michael Koch of Tampa, FL and Karen (Thomas) Exton; grandchildren, Matthew Exton, Katie Exton-Sherman (Thomas), Andrew Exton and Mary Exton; great-grandchildren, Charles, Faith, Fynn, Kevin, and Alistair. Many beloved nieces, nephews and very dear friend, Bernice Sellers. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters, Barbara Bartlett Bohnert, Pamela Campbell Shaw, Imogene Koch, and Joan Spevak. Friends will be received on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., (west of Corey Rd.) from 11 am to 1 pm with a service immediately following at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551 or the charity of the donors choice.
