Charles K. Johnson, 94, of Martin, Ohio, died Friday, February 13, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Charles was born May 18, 1920, in Williston, Ohio, to Harmon and Erna (Krouse) Johnson. On February 2, 1944, in Elliston, Ohio, he married Marvell B. Bringe, who preceded him in death February 21, 1998. Chuck served in the U.S. Army with the 79th Infantry during WWII in Europe and was part of the landing on Utah Beach D-Day Plus 6. Chuck taught for 30 years at Genoa High School retiring in 1975. After retirement he worked as an independent contractor and was the construction manager for Habitat for Humanity in Graytown. He was also the construction manager for Elderlife at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. He had a woodshop at his home and loved making many beautiful lathe turnings. Chuck was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, where he was very active. He served as president and taught Catechism and Sunday School. He was a member of the Genoa American Legion and served as chaplain for many years. Chuck enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, but especially treasured his yearly trip to Minnesota. Chuck is survived by his daughter, Jenise L. Schultz and sons, Dana C. (Sandi) Johnson and Jeffrey D. Johnson, grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, Carly, Jessica and Mackenzie, and great grandchildren, Mathew, Macauley, Callie and Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, John Schultz, brother, Edwin Johnson, and special friend, Janet Diab. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 16, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with military graveside service to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorials for Chuck may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo St., P.O. Box 235, Williston, OH 43468; or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
