Charles E. Hohly, Sr.

Charles Chuck Hohly, Sr., 87, passed away March 15, 2014 at Mirriam, Kansas. He was born January 8, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio and later became a resident of Ottawa Hills. Chuck graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1945 and the University of Toledo in 1950. While at the university he served as treasurer of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. He was an army veteran of World War II and served in Italy. Chuck worked at the Prestolite Division of Allied Corporation for 33 years and became division tax manager. He was a baptized member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. There he served numerous terms as treasurer as well chairing various committees. He also enjoyed volunteer work at the Toledo Humane Society, the Toledo Botanical Gardens and as treasurer of the volunteers in parks at Wildwood Metropark. Chuck was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Grace, sister, Florence, first wife, Lois, second wife, Barbara, and son, Charles, Jr. He is survived by son Keith Debra of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter-in-law Anne, and grandchildren Benjamin, Bethany, and Danielle. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 1342 W Sylvania Ave. with burial immediately following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 3 to 8 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church or a charity of the donors choice.
