Charles “Carlos” Gonzales, 95, of Gypsum, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. Charles was born on February 24, 1920 in Pirtleville, AZ, the son of Josephine (Hernandez) and Feliciano Gonzales. Charles was a US Army veteran serving in the 158th infantry, Company “C” during WWII in the Philippine Theater. On June 11, 1949, in Marblehead he married Helen Klacik and she survives. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Charles enjoyed fishing, playing cards and feeding birds. He was a “jack of all trades” and an all around handy man. He built his own home and was known to help neighborhood kids with bike repairs. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 66 years: Helen, Children: Tom Gonzales of Sandusky, Larry (Becky) Gonzales of Port Clinton, Judy (Jerry) Howell Karen (Brian) Stinson both of Gypsum, and DeeDee (Mark) Wagner of Fremont; 13 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren, and one on the way; Sisters: Maria Zambrano of Tucson, AZ, Cecelia Careaga of Douglas, AZ; Brothers: Alex Gonzales of Douglas, AZ, John Gonzales of Santa Ana, CA; special friends: Judy Wolfe Judy Appleman; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Sister: Anita Arvayo; Brothers: Mike, Angel George Gonzales. Friends may call 2-4pm 6-8pm, Monday, November 23, 2014, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30am Tuesday, November 24, 2015 followed by mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial donations may be given to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, Stein Hospice or to the family.
