Charles R. Garrett,85, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on May 21, 1933 in Youngstown, OH, the son of Thomas A. and Virginia M. (Shaffer) Garrett. On August 18, 1956 in Cannonsburg, PA, he married Betty J. Dagsher and she survives. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. Charles was the music teacher at Port Clinton City Schools, Junior High and High School, for 18 years, retiring in 1985. He loved music, teaching and spending time with his family. Charles will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife of 61 years: Betty J. Garrett; Daughter: Kathy M. (Edward) Stevens; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and son: Gregory A. Garrett. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Kurt Borows, Jr., at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2370 N.E. Catawba Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Charles may be given to Resurrection Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, has assisted the family with arrangements.
