Charles L. Anderson, 93, a lifetime resident of Port Clinton, OH passed away Monday, July 05, 2010 at H. B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born on September 05, 1916, in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Charles Edward and Molly Williamson Anderson. Charles was a 1933 graduate of Port Clinton High School. On May 08, 1937 in Port Clinton, OH, Charles married Mary Jane Velliquette and she preceded him in death on April 05, 1997. Charles was the former owner of the Anderson Ice Company for 48 years. He was a sea scout as a boy. Charles was a founding member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718 and a longtime member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club. He used to do a lot of ice fishing. Charles will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Sharon Anderson Speck Samuel of Worthington, OH and Son: Terry L. Anderson Daya Soudan of Connecticut; Brother: William Anderson Joyce of Dublin, OH; Grandsons: Samuel W. Speck Ellen and Derek C. Speck; Great-Grandchildren: Samuel, Sarah and Steven Speck: Nephews: Allen Anderson of Santa Fe, NM and Paul Anderson of Port Clinton, OH and Niece: Martha Evans of Port Clinton, OH. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mary Jane, brothers: Alan & Paul Anderson and sister: Bernice Anderson. Visitation will be 1:00PM to 2:30PM, Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by the funeral service at 2:30PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations in memory of Charles be given to the National Audubon Society, 700 Broadway, New York, NY 10003 or the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216. Because of the city construction, there will be a lane open to the funeral home from Fulton street to Second street to enter our parking lot.
