Charlene Anna Harrison

Charlene Anna Harrison, age 83 of Toledo, passed away October 5, 2011 at Heartland Holly Glen Nursing Home following a long illness. Charlene was born to Edna Mickel and Joseph Rahm in Holland, OH on April 19, 1928. She was a 1946 graduate of Libbey High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Dana Corporation throughout the 1950s. After rearing her family she returned to the work force retiring in 1994 from Caufiel Machinery. Charlene was an avid gardener winning numerous flower arranging and horticulture awards in amateur competitions and was a longtime member of the Panoramic Garden Club. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge, Chapter 194. Charlene is survived by her children, Jill Jay Nussel of Fort Wayne, IN; Hal and Wesley Schaarschmidt of Toledo; and grandchildren, Steven Nussel of Toledo and Laura Brady West of Dexter, MI. She is also survived by her former husband, Gene Harrison and many nieces and nephews. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers and sisters, Olive Beavers, Arthur and Earl St. Clair, Geraldine Good, Thelma Maag, and Dorothy Maus. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Schaarschmidt. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00am.
