Celine Busia Brywczynski, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully into the waiting arms of her Lord on October 24, 2016. She is now, at long last, joyfully reunited with her husband, Louis, her best friend and one true love, who preceded her in death. She was 88 years old. Celine was born in Toledo on June 7, 1928 to Chester and Stephanie Krolak, the second of six children. She attended Scott High School and graduated from nursing school at St. Vincent Hospital. Celine spent her long career as a nurse caring for both the physical and emotional well being of those in the community. She was most proud of her work at Tennyson Center, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. Celine was also active in Al-Anon. She was the recipient of the St. Marguerite d’Youville award for excellence in nursing and compassionate patient care. Celine was a devout Catholic, who had a strong spiritual connection to both St. Joseph and the realm of angels. Her faith supported and sustained her throughout her life. Celine was a member of Christ the King parish and volunteered her time and talents for Heartbeat of Toledo. A vibrant and active woman, she enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. Her most cherished activity was spending time with her family. She was also fond of both square dancing and line dancing. She was a talented artist who particularly enjoyed painting ceramic figures. Celine was proud of her Polish heritage and her placek recipe was in high demand, especially around the holidays. She had a gift for knowing when someone around her was feeling down and always had the perfect inspirational saying to pass on at just the right time. The matriarch of a large and devoted family, her legacy of love and kindness lives on through those who survive her. Her memory is lovingly carried forward by sons Joseph (Sharon), Louis (Sharon), and James (Beth), daughters Lorraine (Steven) Starkloff, and Jeanne (Michael) Hook, sister Joan Duritsky, and brother Thomas Krolak. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Celine was preceded in death by sisters Stephanie Wolinski and Lillian Petee, brother Chester, and two great-grandchildren.
