Celia Charlotte Ebersole, 75, of Perrysburg, Ohio, was called to heaven on February 26, 2016. Celia was born to Harry and Lila (Gomez) Longo on July 19, 1940 in Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Springfield High School, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and her Master’s in Education at Wittenberg University at a time when few women were getting Master’s degrees. At the 1968 Wittenberg Homecoming, she met the love of her life, Wm. Dale Ebersole. They married in Springfield on June 21, 1969. Celia was a very loving person who shared her life through God and the church. Her faith was her foundation. Children were one of the most important parts of her life. She was passionate about the education of young children. She taught kindergarteners for seven years at Washington Elementary School in Springfield, introducing the children to Spanish, science, and the larger world in addition to the normal curriculum. Starting at age 15, she taught Sunday School at the First Lutheran Church in Springfield. Later, she led the Sunday School preschool opening and taught classes at Zoar Lutheran Church. Then she directed the Cherub Choir for 11 years. Celia kept in touch with many of her former choir members over the years, sending birthday cards and supporting their personal successes. More recently, Celia was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee. There she received much love and support which helped her through her cancer treatment and the loss of her brother. She was also active in the American Association of University Women in both Springfield and Perrysburg. Celia is survived by her family a devoted husband, Wm. Dale Ebersole; two sons Bryan (Danamarie) Ebersole and Alexander (Stephanie) Ebersole; two grandchildren Lila and Genai; two step-grandchildren Christina and Jennifer; along with many caring cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lila Longo; and brother, Michael R. Longo. Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 4 at 12:30pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne St. Maumee, Ohio 43537 where memorial services will begin at 1pm with tea to follow.
