Cecil Brinton Russell, Jr., 81, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, November 16, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 12, 1932 in Norris town, Pa. to the late Cecil and Ethel Smiley Russell. Cecil served for 10 years in the United States military with both the Army and Air Force. He was a retired Ottawa Hills Police Officer and drove school bus for Toledo Public Schools for many years. Cecil was a life member of the Old News Boys. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and for his selfless and giving nature. He found his greatest enjoyment in spending time with his family and taking care of their needs. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Glenda Close Russell; children, Kristi Russell, Cecilie Scott Ricke and Mark Laurie Russell; and eight beloved grandchildren, Nichole, Brinton, Nathan and Bailey Ricke, and Christopher, Kyle, Alex and Drew Russell. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Road where memorial services to honor Cecils life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013. Committal services and military graveside rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
