Cecelia E. (Mahnen) Pugh Cecelia E. (Mahnen) Pugh, a resident of Perrysburg, Ohio since 1941, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on July 3, 2012, after a long illness. Mrs. Pugh was born on February 14, 1909, in Custar, Ohio to Christopher and Margaret Mahnen, the fifth of six children. She graduated from Milton High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing. As an R.N., Mrs. Pugh worked as a private duty nurse prior to her marriage to Dr. Luther S. Pugh in 1936. She was active in a number of community affairs serving as president of the St. Vincent Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Perrysburg Garden Club, and the St. Rose Altar and Rosary Society as well as fund raising efforts for her children’s schools. She also spent many years working with Mobile Meals in the Toledo area. Her love of playing bridge kept her busy for many years. Mrs. Pugh was preceded in death by her husband, Luther S. Pugh, M.D. in 1989, and her son, William Henry Pugh, in 2000. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy P. Kroeger, Scituate, MA and JoAnn Pugh-Gannon, Campton Hills, IL and son, John J. Pugh, Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Alice, Bobby, John, Ellen, Billy, Justin, Andrew, and Courtney; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She has one remaining sibling, Dorothy Feehan, of Bowling Green, OH. The family would like to thank the staff at ProMedica and Guardian Angels for their excellent assistance in caring for Mrs. Pugh especially Amy Elder, Sheryl Chico and Pat Wilson, who cared for her from the beginning of her illness. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 8, from 2 to 7 PM with the rosary being said at 7 PM at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) Prayers will be recited in the funeral home, Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:15 A.M. followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front St, Perrysburg, OH. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Rose School, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of choice.
