Cathy A. Widmer

Cathy A. Widmer, 63, of Genoa, died Friday, August 23, 2019, at her home. She was born January 6, 1956, in Oregon, Ohio, to Donald A. and Joanne M. (Rahrs) Sayen. On October 27, 1979, in Genoa, she married Donald E. Widmer. Cathy received her bachelors degree and worked as a medical technologist at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital retiring in 2015. Cathy was a very loving wife and mother, who dearly loved all her grandchildren. Being a mom to three boys, she endured many pets throughout the years. She was a night owl and loved to party, celebrating Christmas and birthdays and many family gatherings; and she was a great pie baker. Cathy and Don and the family had just returned from their annual trip to their cottage in Quebec, Canada, where she was known for her games and prizes. Cathy was a member of Genoa Christian Church and had been very active over the years. She also belonged to a Bunko club and the Maumee Valley Model T Club, and she and Don took many trips with their car. In addition to her husband, Don, Cathy is survived by her family: sons, Donny (Sandy) Widmer of Oak Harbor, Ben (Val) Widmer and Matthew (Jennifer) Widmer both of Genoa; grandchildren, Elaina, Abigail, Evelyn, Caleb, Jillian, Landon, Asher, William, Avonlea, Vivienne and Kieffer; sister, Cheryl (Jon) Nutter of Genoa; and her mother, Joanne Sayen of Genoa. Her father preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Genoa Christian Church with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
