Cathleen OConnell Richard, a lifelong Toledo resident, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg on February 15, 2009, after a battle with throat cancer. Cathleen was born on October 7th, 1932. She was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Upon graduation, she became employed by Buckeye Brewery and then Toledo Edison as an administrative assistant until her marriage to Dud Richard in 1957. Cathleen was a parishioner of St. Pius X. A more devoted wife and mother you could not find. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, a meticulous housekeeper, a skilled seamstress and the best pie maker in town. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Cathleen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Phyllis Heckler OConnell; sisters, Mary Ann Erskine, Jean McNerney, and Carolyn Stokes. She is survived by her husband, Carl Dud Richard; sons, Philip Cindy, Gene Yolanda, and Todd Lisa; grandchildren, Kevin, Meghan, Skye, Autumn, and Maria; and brother, Jim OConnell. Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3011 Carskaddon Ave., Toledo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cathleens memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43550 or Central Catholic High School, 2550 Cherry St., Toledo, OH 43608.
