Catherine Johnson passed away quietly in her sleep early Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee. Her three sons Jeff, Steve and Doug Johnson had been with her there on Thanksgiving Day. Catherine was born in Toledo on July 2, 1921, the daughter of William J. Fournier and Kate Broedow Fournier. Catherine was the youngest of the five surviving Fournier children and was the last of her generation. Her father had been a conductor for the New York Central Railroad until his ill health led her parents to become the owners of a corner grocery store on Colburn Street in Toledo. Catherine attended Jones Junior High and graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo. She was employed as a customer service representative by Ohio Bell Telephone Company until her marriage to Donald P. Johnson during WWII and she worked for Bell Telephone again when her children were grown. Her husband Donald was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army who employed by the Jeep Corporation for many years. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1992. Catherine Johnson is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey P. Debby Johnson of Haslett, Michigan, Steven D. Debbie Johnson of Holland, Ohio and Douglas W. Valerie Johnson of Toledo, Ohio, by three grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Rachel Matt Desmond Johnson, Aaron Sharon Johnson and three great-grandchildren, as well as by her nieces and nephews and their families. Don and Katy Johnson will be remembered as kind and loving parents and warm hosts to her brothers and sister and to the nieces and nephews, wives and children of the Fournier and Johnson families. Friends and neighbors were always welcome guests at their home. Visitation will be at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, on Sunday, November 30th from 3 8 PM.
