Catherine C. Glander

Glander Catherine C. Catherine C. Glander, age 91, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 in Hillsdale, MI. Catherine was born June 2, 1918 in Lima, OH to Ernest and Margaret Byrd. She married Charles Glander in 1949 after he returned from WWII. Catherine worked at Mercy Hospital for 25 years as a surgical nurse. She was a charter member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church having served on the St. Francis Guild and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a lifetime member and past treasurer of the VFW #606 Auxiliary and a member of the MOCA Auxiliary #44 VFW. She is survived by her son, Howard Erika Russell; daughter, Susan Michael Mitchell; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Byrd and John Byrd; sisters, Margaret Ann Zucarrrell, Theresa Kirschner, and Florence Grandowicz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; grandson, Robert Russell; brothers, Ernest, Gayle, and James Byrd; sisters Mary Ellen Fellers and Rose Kaminski. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a VFW 606 Auxiliary service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
