Catherine D. Fitzthum, 98, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Friday, October 02, 2009 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. She was born on May 28, 1911 in Gypsum, OH, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Helget Fitzthum. Catherine graduated from Tri-State University in Toledo in 1931 with a business degree. She worked as a bookkeeper for Matthews Boat Company for 43 years retiring in 1974. Catherine was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. She loved to travel and visited every state in the United States. Catherine loved playing cards and bingo. She was a Cleveland Indians fan. Catherine will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Nephew: Terry Michelle Fitzthum of Port Clinton, OH; Niece: Connie James Brossia of Martin, OH; Great Nephew: Kevin Brossia; Great Nieces: Beth Matt Millikin, Sarah Mark Messa, Melissa Brossia and Jessica Brossia; Great Great Nephew: Tyler TJ Millikin. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Ralph Bud Fitzthum. Visitation will be from 5-8PM, Sunday, October 4, 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:00AM, Monday, October 5, 2009 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH, following family prayers at the funeral home at 9:30AM. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Catherine to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
