BURKARD, Catherine Mary, age 95 known as "Kate" of Big Canoe, Georgia, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2026 under hospice care at The Retreat Assisted Living in Georgia to be with the Lord and her "Sweet Tutti" and loving husband John. She was a longtime former resident of Lime City Road in Perrysburg, Ohio until John retired in December 1980. They moved to Venice Florida and a built a home there after retirement and lived there for 34 years. She lived Huron Ohio for five years until moving to Georgia with her youngest daughter.
She was born January 19, 1931, in Sylvania, Ohio to the parents of Helen M. (Schmidt) Arnold Adamski and Xavier F. Arnold.
Catherine married John Peter Burkard at Agnes Church in Toledo Ohio on April 23, 1949.
Mrs. Burkard attended and graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1949. She was a bookkeeper for Seaway Sand & Stone, Swanton, Ohio for 10 years. She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Venice and St. Rose Church in Perrysburg, Ohio for 28 years prior to moving to Venice, Florida in 1984. She enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Erie with her husband and children in her early years and gardening. She was fiercely independent, worked hard all her life, built her own computer, and gardened. She was the secretary treasurer for a computer club she attended in Florida until she moved back to Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years John P. Burkard who died June 14, 1997, parents, and the following siblings: Helen Straus, Raymond Arnold, Susanne Seger, Jane Gates, Josephine Enck, William Arnold, and Bernard Arnold. She is survived by her youngest sibling, Robert Arnold, and her children Sally A. McBride (Richard), of Whitewright Texas, Mary Kay Courtney (Wayne Barclay) of Bonham Texas, and Joanne M. Walsh (James Berry) of Big Canoe, Georgia. Catherine has six grandchildren Brandon Courtney, Nicole (Chris) Taylor, Amber (Tim) Miller, Megan Roberts, Nicholas and Kayla Walsh and eight great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St, Perrysburg, OH. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, 8308 S. River Rd. Waterville, Ohio in the Mausoleum Chapel of Memories Family requests memorials to masses. Luncheon by Helping Hands Ministry at St. Rose Church.
