Cassie Lee (Zunk) Ahlgrim, 42, of Green Springs, OH, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Firelands Community Hospital in Sandusky, OH. Born on July 19, 1982, in Genoa, OH, to Tom and Tammy (Baumert) Zunk, Cassie was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School, Class of 2001. She built her career in human resources, but her true life’s work was raising her two beloved children, Maddy (14) and Cooper (12).
Cassie was devoted to her children, proudly supporting their every endeavor. Whether coaching their teams, traveling for sports, or cheering from the sidelines as their loudest and most dedicated fan, she always found a way to make things happen for them. Cassie lived for her kids, pouring her energy and love into every moment they shared.
Her warmth and generosity extended far beyond her family. Cassie was a friend to all, forming connections effortlessly and offering love and support to everyone around her. Her selflessness shone through even in her final moments, as she chose to help others as an organ donor—a legacy of kindness and compassion that will inspire her children and those who knew her.
Cassie was the backbone of her family, always there with unwavering support, a hilarious sense of humor, and a knack for making others feel seen and loved. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cassie is survived by her children, Maddy and Cooper Ahlgrim; her mother, Tammy (Mike Magill) Zunk; her sister, Danielle (Ross) Gillespie; her nephew, Tommy Gillespie; her niece, Mara Gillespie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Zunk.
