Casper S. Barraco, age 91, of Temperance, died peacefully on March 28, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Cas was born October 24, 1929 in Toledo to the late Frank and Mary (Miller) Barraco. He graduated in 1947 from Woodward High School where he was president of the student council. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Cas was employed a glass maker for many years at Libbey Owens Ford and later with Smith Kline Beecham. He enjoyed his volunteer work at Flower Hospital, collecting coins and spending time with his yellow labs. Cas was passionate about his volunteer work with the Trilby Fire Department and later, for 20 years, with the Bedford Fire Department where he achieved the rank of Captain. He was also a Mason and member of Zenobia Shrine. Cas will be remembered as a gentleman and “people person”; social, friendly, and always willing to lend a hand. Surviving are his children, Doug and Rick (Mary) Barraco and Becky (Steve) Riley; grandchildren, Chris, Brandon, Eric, Missy, Renee and Katie; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy in 1990; son, Jeff; and brother, Bob. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2021. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Contributions in his name are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer’s Association.
