Carrie E. Reid

Carrie Evelyn Godbee Jones Reid, 85, widow of Paul Jones and William Reid, died October 17, 2014 in her home in Sylvania, Ohio. Born in Girard, Georgia, July 7, 1929, she was one of the Late Tanny Oliver and Lillie Griffin Godbee’s daughters. Carrie graduated from Edgefield High School and LOVED to share stories of her basketball adventures. Carrie was passionate about fashion and was always sharing her fashion expertise. As a consultant to designer clothing for decades, Carrie was well known in Chicago where her late husband William (Bill) and she ran their business in the Historical Merchandise Mart. Carrie retired in 1995 and moved to Sylvania, Ohio to be closer to most of her children. Surviving this extraordinary woman is her eldest son, Edward Jones, of Arizona; 3 daughters, Irene Jones Suchomma, Debra Jones Cooper, and Crystal Jones Iagulli. Many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved that she snuck them candy when their mom wasn’t looking also surrounded Nini (Carrie). Carrie was predeceased by 2 sisters, Thelma and Mary; and brothers, Gordon, Lamar, Odeen, Charlie and Hubert. Memorial service will be held at Walker Funeral Home 5155 W.
