Carolyn Jane Warns

Carolyn "Kate" Jane Warns, age 91, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on September 11, 2026.

Born on June 30, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, Kate was the daughter of Fillmore Howard and Jeannette Pearl (Jane) Wamer. One of fifteen children and right in the middle of the large family, she played an important role in helping care for her siblings.

She graduated from Waite High School and she spent many years working as a dental assistant.

Kate married Vernon Warns, and together they shared 42 years of marriage before his passing in 1997.

Kate was a remarkable five-time cancer survivor who faced life's challenges with courage and determination. She devoted much of her life to caring for others, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Kate found great enjoyment in gambling, especially trips to casinos and playing bingo. She also loved traveling to Florida, where she maintained a winter home.

She is survived by her children, David Warns, Susan (Kevin) Marsh, James (Lore) Warns, and Daniel Warns; grandchildren, Megan Hess, Joseph Marsh, Jacob Warns, and Allison Warns; great-grandchildren, Landon Hess and Ava Hess; siblings, Phyllis, Larry "Butch," Daniel, Walter "Ike" (Joanne), and Rex "Gigi" (Dorothy); as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Vernon, Kate was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jeannette "Cookie," Joyce, Bonnie, James, Robert, Michael, Lila, Mary, and Patricia.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Homes, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Troy Township Cemetery in Luckey, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions in Kate's name may be directed to Ohio Living Hospice.
