Carolyn Nancy Randt

Carolyn Nancy Randt, 84, of Sylvania, Ohio went to be with Jesus November 17, 2017 following a celebrated life. She was born Nancy Carolyn to Francis and Nancy (Burns) LeBlanc on August 19, 1933. At age four, she was adopted following her mother’s unexpected death. Her adoptive parents changed their new little girl’s name to Carolyn Nancy McFarlane. In her high school years, Carolyn demonstrated a keen eye for fashion and a talent as a clothes designer. Her preserved drawings reflect creative and innovative ideas ahead of her day. She married Bill Randt shortly after graduating and used the meager family funds to design a trendy line of clothes for her daughters and herself. Carolyn expanded her creative interests through home interior design, painting, sign making, and computer graphics. As the years passed and dementia began to claim her thoughts, she still filled pages with sketches and color. Carolyn also enjoyed singing in the church choir and opening the family home to host friends with an evening of games and her husband, Bill’s, homemade ice cream or chips and homemade dip. Her colorful flower gardens painted the edges of the family’s property. This could be why she has always loved the hymn, In the Garden. Family who remain and remember Carolyn’s life are her siblings, Joyce and Mike; her children, Myra and Ron Carter, Mary and Henry Vaitkevicius, Marcia and Frank McConnell, Fred Randt, and Martha Randt; her eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her husband, William Dean Randt, her parents, and her seven siblings, Jo Ann, Jerry, David, Richard, and Jim warmly greet her at Heaven’s gate. Carolyn is happy to be with Jesus. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. with services to follow at 1 p.m. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Garden, 2811 South State Road, Ionia, Michigan 48846.
