Carolyn Ann Perry, born on June 29, 1946, passed away surrounded by love and prayer with her family on February 19, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories.
Carolyn is survived by her loving children: Sherry Bassinger (Michael), Dewayne Perry (Jennifer), and Gary Perry (Jonel). She was a proud grandmother to Tyler Bassinger (Krystal), Jackson Perry, Dylan Perry, Morgan Perry, and Charli Perry, and a great-grandmother to Kayleigh Bassinger, Ellery Bassinger, and Nora Bassinger. She was a loving sister to Dale Hall. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandchild, Kyle Bassinger; her parents, John and Marjorie Walker; her brother, Kenneth Walker; and her sister-in-law, Mary Hall.
Throughout her life, Carolyn was known for her hard work and dedication. She owned and operated a restaurant called The Chef in Hobbs, NM, and later served as the Transportation Manager for Diamond Plastics in Muncie, IN. However, her true calling was caring for those she loved.
Affectionately known as "Grams" by her grandchildren and even friends of the family, Carolyn had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special. Her positive outlook on life, even during her final months, was embodied in her new phrase, "onward & upward." Her children believe this phrase reflects her faith in a brighter, heavenly future beyond this life.
In her earlier years, Carolyn enjoyed participating in a women's bowling league in Grand Island, NE. She also had a lifelong passion for puzzles of all kinds, including Sudoku, crosswords, and jigsaw puzzles, showcasing her sharp mind and love for intellectual challenges. Her intelligence and wit shone through in everything she did.
She will be remembered for her selflessness and her incredible cooking. Carolyn often took orders for pies during the holidays and would occasionally surprise her family with a peach cobbler, homemade bread, or other tasty treats. Her willingness to sacrifice everything she had to provide for her children is a testament to her unwavering love and dedication.
Above all, Carolyn will be missed most for her fierce love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
"Onward & upward," Mom. May you now rest in peace.
