Carolyn Sue Maycrovich

June 13, 1941 — May 14, 2024

Carolyn Sue Maycrovich, affectionately known as Sue, passed away on May 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1941, in Mansfield, TN to Raymond and Bertha (Hastings) Walters. Sue dedicated 19 years of her life as a salesclerk at Rite Aid, where her friendly demeanor and warm smile brightened the lives of countless customers, and many friendships were forged.

Sue was a woman of simple pleasures. She loved her daily walks to work, cherishing the fresh air and the rhythm of her footsteps. Mystery novels held a special place in her heart, with Mary Higgins Clark being her favorite author.

In her free time, Sue enjoyed strolling through the neighborhood with her best friend, Sandy. Together, they shared stories, laughter, and the beauty of everyday life. Sue’s creative spirit shone through her sewing machine, especially when she crafted Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. Her sweet tooth led her to her love chocolate and the late-night baking of fresh brownies.

Gardening was another passion that Sue embraced wholeheartedly. She reveled in the feel of soil between her fingers, nurturing plants, and coaxing blooms from the earth. A sun worshipper, she loved to bask in the warmth of golden rays, especially on a beach.

Her bond with her sister was unbreakable—they never had a fight. Sue and Jean along with their husbands, Bernie and Bill, were like the 4 amigos. Their shared vacations led them on wild adventures with many laughs along the way. Sue loved spending time at the cabin with her sisters-in-law, Rose, and Patty. The three of them would share in an abundance of crazy antics together.

As we bid farewell to Sue, let us remember her for her ability to have an answer for every question posed and the warmth she brought to our hearts. May she rest in peace, forever etched in our memories like footprints in the sand.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bernie Sr; son, Bernie (Laurie) Maycrovich Jr.; daughters, Terri (Daryl) Dixon, and Rae Lindenman; sister, Bobby Jean (Bill) Wright; grandchildren, Desire (Ronny), Andrew (Stacy), Carissa (Dustin), Skyler, and Dakota; and great-grandchildren, Jayda, Hailey, Charlie, Mikenna, Jonathan, Karley, Adalyn, and Hayden. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bud, Donny, and Wesley.

Family and friends may visit Monday, May 20, 2024, from 3-6 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Memorial Service for Sue will follow at 6 pm. She will be laid to rest privately in Toledo Memorial Park.
