Carolyn J. Ellenberger

On February 3, 2017 Carolyn Jeanette Ellenberger passed away at the age of 97 with her family at her side. At that time, she joined her husband Walter in Heaven. Carolyn was the daughter of Carl and Clara Bell Carlson of Jamestown, New York. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School in 1937 and the Flower Hospital School of Nursing. As an RN, she worked at Flower Hospital and the Toledo Clinic. Carolyn was a proud member for over 75 years in the Order of Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron of Collingwood Lodge #184. She was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, and the Ladies Guild of Flower Hospital. Following retirement, she and Walter traveled all over the US and even took trips beyond our borders. In 1941, Carolyn married Walter Ellenberger and they were married for 74 years until his death in 2016. During those years, Carolyn proved herself to be an amazing cook, talented seamstress, and creator of many beautiful pictures and homemade articles which family members will cherish for many years to come. Carolyn is survived by her children, Charles (Jan), Marcia Storm (Phil) and David (Charlotte); six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the amazing and wonderfully caring nurses and staff at the Browning Masonic Pathways Unit and Julie and the rest of the staff from Ohio Living Hospice. The Ellenberger Family would like to welcome guests at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. where Eastern Star Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Dittus presiding. Interment will be private. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Browning Masonic Home, 8885 Browning Drive, Waterville, OH 43566 attn: Pathways Unit or a charity of the donors choice.
