Caroline L. Battista

Caroline Battista, age 84, was born on November 3, 1938, and went to join the Lord on September 7, 2023. She was born to Israel and Emma Grodi and her mother passed away when she was very young. She was raised by Margrette and Carson Sibberson.

St. Jerome Catholic Church held a special place in Caroline’s heart. She was an active member there and enjoyed serving at various events including Bingo, fish frys, rummage sales, and the Holiday Bazaar. She will be missed by all those that truly loved her.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her loving husband of 51 years, Charles W. Battista Sr.; infant son, Thomas; her oldest son, Charles Jr.; and her siblings, Joseph (Mary Gillespie) Grodi, Andrew Grodi, Margaret (Timothy) Gormley; and brother-in-law, Robert Sweeney.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Linda (James) Sass, Alice (James) White, Richard (Tammy) Battista; along with her 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Sweeney and Mary Jane (Jerry) Pratt; sister-in-law, Lois (Dennis) Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will welcome visitors at the Walker Funeral Home - Oregon Chapal (3500 Navarre Ave.) on Wednesday, September 13, from 4 pm – 7 pm with a Rosary prayer service led by the Knights of Columbus at 7 pm. On Thursday, September 14, visitation will continue from 10 am – 10: 30 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, Ohio, (300 Warner St.) with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
