Carol Jean Zenz

Carol Jean Zenz, 87, of Swanton died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. She was born on November 16, 1929 in Woodville, Ohio to William H. and Stella J. (McClellan) Hurrelbrink and she married Robert E. Zenz on December 25, 1947 in LaJunta, Colorado. Carol was a long time member of Providence Lutheran Church in Holland, Ohio where she was active in the Young at Heart Club, Bell Choir and Women’s Church Group. She was also a member of Swanton Garden Club as well as the Craftsmen’s Guild. Carol was self-employed for many years as a beautician. Carol also enjoyed growing and harvesting flowers, which turned into a life passion of creating beautiful one-of-a-kind pressed flower arrangements. She loved spending time with her family, especially camping. Carol is survived by her loving children, Robert (Karen) Zenz and Susan Zenz; grandchildren, Kari (Chris) Zenz-Nielsen, Laura (Tyler) Bergstedt, Christopher Zenz, Heidi (Chris) Quarles and Hollie (Chris) Roark; great grandchildren, Krista, Kailey and Kolton McCombs, Wesley, Erin and Cameron Quarles; sisters, Shirley Ann (Richard) Bullard and Janet Miller and dear friend, Sue Runkle. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Leonard Hurrelbrink. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528, (419-865-8879). Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in Providence Lutheran Church, 8131 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
