Carol Anne Slaman

Carol Anne Slaman, age 65, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2020 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. She was born May 30, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clarence Stanley and Edna (Wolf) Mack. Carol graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, OH in 1972 and Bowling Green State University in 1976. She was employed with Toledo Public Schools for more than 35 years, primarily teaching Home Economics at Start High School. Carol was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Cathedral in Toledo. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, sewing, skiing and traveling, especially regular trips to Jamaica. Carol was an exceptional cook and loved preparing meals for gatherings of family and friends. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her granddaughters. Carol had many dear friends and will be lovingly remembered for her outgoing, fun-loving nature. She courageously battled her illness with perseverance and no complaints or self pity, focusing her attention on the needs of others. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Matthew and Adam (Kristen) Slaman; granddaughters, Quinn and Henley; sister, Claire (Jerry) Ilhardt; longtime partner, John Conrad; nieces and nephew, Kim, Kristen, Christie and Brian; close friends, Dave, Todd and Angel Slaman, Cindy Ritter, Cindy Kusz and Tina Shaheen and longtime neighbors and friends who helped care for her. Carols family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Garth Phibbs and his staff for their professional and compassionate care throughout the years. They are also very thankful to the friendly staff of ProMedica Infusion. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1:00 p.m. until the time of memorial services at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road). Committal services at Toledo Memorial Park will be held privately. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Victory Center, Ebeid Hospice or St. George Cathedral.
