Carol A. Rieff, 91, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, January 19, 2026, at Riverview Healthcare Campus.
Carol was born February 23, 1934, in Elmore, Ohio, to Dan and Bernice (Buck) Kontak and graduated from Harris-Elmore High School in 1952. On July 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Arlo Rieff, and together shared 52 years of marriage.
She worked as a billing clerk at Fiske Brothers Refinery and was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where she belonged to the Lydia Circle and was active with the Altar Guild. Her community involvement included membership in the Oak Harbor VFW Ladies Auxiliary, founding member and past president of the Riverview Auxiliary, and longtime volunteer as a poll worker with the Ottawa County Board of Elections.
Carol enjoyed playing cards and was a member of card clubs in both Elmore and Oak Harbor, where she loved playing bunco. Carol cherished her weekly Tuesday lunches with friends at Kozy Korners Restaurant. As an avid traveler, Carol enjoyed bus trips and a trip to Las Vegas to attend the VFW National Convention with her husband.
Carol is survived by her children, Curt (Dorothy Clarke) Rieff and Amy Rieff; grandchildren, Karolanne (Justin) Carter and Kayellen Rieff; along with many loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband; and brother Bruce (Phyllis) Kontak.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Walker Funeral Home, 165 East Water Street, Oak Harbor, Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10:00 am until funeral service at 1:00 pm. A fellowship lunch will follow at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 West Ottawa Street, Oak Harbor. Private interment: Elliston Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Riverview Auxiliary.
