Carol Marie Reichardt (nee’ Holland), age 87, of Monclova, OH, passed away surrounded by love on Feb. 13, 2025, at StoryPoint Waterville.
Carol was born on April 1, 1937, in Maumee, the only child of Edward and Mabel Holland. She graduated from Maumee High School in 1955, where the best part of her tenure was not activities such as carrying the drum in the marching band, but meeting her high school sweetheart E. Robert Reichardt. They married soon after she graduated, embarking on a 65-year adventure that included creating a close-knit family, owning and operating a successful business (J&R Contracting Co., Inc.), tooling around in classic cars, antiquing, and building their Four Oaks Farm. They loved animals, and through the years their menagerie included horses, cats, chickens, goats, cows, and so many stray dogs that became loved and spoiled.
Radiating joy, warmth, and love into the people and spaces around her was a special gift Carol gave easily and generously. She was a friend to those in need, always lifting others up and constantly encouraging them. Her service of others extended to teaching Sunday school, both coaching her daughter’s softball team and leading her Girl Scout Troop, and cultivating a warm and welcoming space for anyone who needed the feeling of home. She was quick to offer a snack, a listening ear, and words of wit, wisdom, challenge, and support in their turn.
Carol infused decades of energy into her family, teaching, nurturing, and championing. She started Thursday night “Grandma Night” when her grandchildren were toddlers, and the weekly mainstay persisted into their adulthood, a consistent reminder of the importance to intentionally make time for those who are precious to you.
Carol leaves a legacy of love and laughter, tied together with her strong faith. Because of her, we know a few things that make life more full: to love others as a reflection of Christ; that there always is room at the table for another plate (just call first); that you can achieve anything if you have enough gumption and a strong work ethic; that music and laughter are the best medicine; to be your family’s greatest cheerleader; and that any time is always the perfect time to enjoy a glass of iced tea and good company.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her children, Bob (Karen) Reichardt and Amy (Jim) Johnson; her grandchildren, Kristin (Slava) Polubnev, Paul Johnson, Joe (Heather) Johnson, and Matt (Brittanie) Reichardt; and her 9 great-grandchildren.
A private burial with immediate family will take place at a later time. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the StoryPoint Waterville staff.
Mom, Gma, we will miss you, we rejoice that you are hearing the words “well done”, and we say see you soon, with lots of love and prayers … underlined twice.
