Carol A. Plantz

Carol A. Plantz, 74, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Genoa Retirement Village where she had been a resident. Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 27, 1950, she was the daughter of Walter and Willow (Hyman) Koenker. Carol met James R. Plantz, of Genoa and they were married at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Genoa on August 16, 1969. Jim preceded her in death on May 2, 2009.

Carol and Jim were dedicated sports fans starting with their five sons and then their grandchildren. Whenever there was a sporting event, they were there and that didn’t change after Jim’s death. Carol always made time for her grandchildren, babysitting when they were little and cheering them on in whatever sport or activity they were involved in.

Carol also enjoyed shopping, traveling and just spending time enjoying life. Her family and friends will remember her as an avid Pittsburg Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Most times she was wearing a shirt showing her support for her favorite teams!

Carol is survived by her sons and their wives, Jim (Katie), Tim (Alana), Paul (Sofia), Greg (Julie), and Rob, (Brittany) Plantz, grandchildren, Max and Savannah Plantz, Cheyenne Deitemeyer, Violet, Jon, Walter, and Nick Plantz, Haley Plantz, Jaynie (Tanner) Trent, and Jacob Plantz, great-grandchildren, Enzo, Kennedy, Parker, Camella and Wrenn, and her brother, Jan (Donna) Koenker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim.

Visitation for Carol will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5 – 8 PM, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. A memorial service will be conducted at 11AM, Friday, April 11, 2025, in the funeral home followed by interment in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
